Leonardtown, Maryland

We're opening a home care agency in Leonardtown.

We're a locally owned home care agency, run out of Leonardtown. We're finishing our Maryland license and can't take clients until it's issued. Leave an email address and we'll write to you the week we open.

WATCHFUL. WARM. HOME.

The license

Where the application stands

Osprey Cove Care LLC was formed in July 2026. We're working through the application for a Residential Service Agency license, which is issued by the Office of Health Care Quality at the Maryland Department of Health.

Nobody can provide home care in Maryland without one, so until ours is issued we can't take clients or schedule anything.

The license number goes on this page the day it arrives. You can look us up in the state's records from there.

Maryland requires a licensed agency to publish its number in advertising. When ours is issued you'll find it in the footer of this page, and in the state's public listing of Residential Service Agencies.

The name

Why an osprey

They nest on the pilings out in the creeks, on the channel markers, on top of the light poles at the ballfields. Same pair, same nest, every March. If you grew up here you stopped noticing them years ago.

We wanted a name that came from this county rather than out of a branding exercise.

An osprey nest built on a weathered wooden piling in a still tidal cove at dawn.

The service area

Where we'll work

St. Mary's County at launch: Leonardtown, California, Lexington Park, Hollywood, Great Mills, Mechanicsville, Charlotte Hall, Callaway, Avenue, Clements, Ridge, Piney Point. Calvert and Charles once we have the staff for them.

The company is owned and run from Leonardtown. There is no head office in another county, no national brand above us, and no franchise fee coming out of what a caregiver gets paid.

Who this is for

Who we're building it for

Older adults who want to stay in their own house. Veterans and their families, which in this county is a great many of us. Adults living with a disability. And parents of children with medical needs, who have been driving to Baltimore and back because there has been nothing closer.

None of it is available yet. The license comes first.

Working here

If you do this work, talk to us now

We'll be hiring once the license is issued: aides, medication technicians, LPNs and RNs. We'd like to meet people before then. The first week of a new agency is a bad time to be interviewing.

Everyone we hire is a W-2 employee. Maryland law requires it for personal care aides, and we'd do it anyway, because contractor status hands the payroll taxes and the workers' compensation to the person doing the hardest part of the job.

Write to careers@ospreycovecare.com and tell us where you've worked.

One email, the week we open. We won't use the list for anything else and we won't pass it to anybody.

I'm reaching out as

Please don't put medical details in this form, it isn't a secure channel. If you need to talk about someone's health, call instead.

How to reach us

If someone needs care this week

We can't help yet. The St. Mary's County Department of Aging and Human Services runs a free information and referral line at (301) 475-4200, extension 1057. They keep track of which agencies are licensed right now and they will point you to one.
